ROM version information for the Datel Action Replay and clones.
Note that I'm not sure where we stand with Datel Electronics, hence it is questionable whether the ROM images are avilable for (non profit) distribution. The situation is further confused by the various Action Replay clones that were once available, including the recent Retro Replay flash based cartridge that is compatible with Datel's Action Replay code.
As I understand it, the Action Replay cartridges are identified by the Mark revision (e.g. Mk IV, Mk V, Mk VI) and operating system version (e.g. v4.0, v4.1).
The known revisions and operating systems are as follows:
Sometime after V4.1 an external 8k byte SRAM is fitted to the PCB. I assume this was the difference between the Mk IV (v4.0/v4.1) and the Mk IV PROFESSIONAL (v4.2). I don't have a real v4.2 to check.
It is possible to upgrade earlier hardware by fitting the missing SRAM and replacing the ROM with a later version. The images below show an original Action Replay v4.1 and later upgraded to v6.0.

Binary ROM images. You'll need to make .crt files (add the header) to work with your favourite emulator e,g, VICE.

I'm really looking to archive the untouched, orginal ROM images taken from genuine hardware. Let me have your hacks too though.
The user manual for the Action Replay Mk IV can be downloaded here in PDF format. This is a scan of the actual Datel supplied manual. This covers the Mk IV v4.0, v4.1 and v5.0 operating systems. You can find text versions of the later manuals (v6.0) on Project 64.
